WACO, Texas -- The best season by a running back in the 127-year history of Eureka College football was further rewarded Tuesday when junior LeAnthony Reasnover (Momence, Ill./Momence H.S.) was named to the American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' All-America Second Team, according to an announcement from the AFCA. Reasnover is Eureka's first-ever AFCA All-American.

AFCA Division III Coaches' All-America Team

The AFCA has selected an All-America team every year since 1945. The AFCA's Division III All-America Selection Committee is made up of three head coaches from each of the AFCA's eight districts, one of whom serves as a district chairman, along with another head coach who serves as the chairman of the selection committee. The coaches in each district are responsible for ranking the top players in their respective districts prior to a conference call between the district chairmen and the committee chairman on which the team is chosen. This year's AFCA Division III Coaches' All-America Team is made up of 37 seniors, 10 juniors and three sophomores.

Reasnover put up an historic 2017 season for the Red Devils, breaking eight program records and earning the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year award. He ran 318 times for 1,875 yards and 31 touchdowns in leading the Red Devils to their first UMAC title and the program's first-ever NCAA playoffs bid. Reasnover also made 18 catches for 183 yards and an additional touchdown. His 1,875 rushing yards, 31 rushing touchdowns and 194 points scored were single-season Eureka records. He earned his third consecutive All-UMAC selection, including his second consecutive First Team appearance, and was voted to the D3football.com All-West Region Second Team earlier this month.

The Momence, Ill. native saved his best performances for the second half of the season, breaking Eureka's single-game rushing record with a 355-yard effort in the Red Devils' thrilling 40-34 victory over five-time UMAC champion St. Scholastica on Oct. 28 at McKinzie Field. One week later on Nov. 4, Reasnover rushed for 252 yards and a school-record seven touchdowns in helping EC clinch the outright UMAC title with a 63-26 drubbing of Martin Luther.

Through 31 games, Reasnover will enter his senior campaign in 2018 as the Red Devils' all-time leader with 3,849 rushing yards and 55 rushing touchdowns. He also has scored 348 points, second-most in program history behind Kurt Barth's four-year total of 371.

Eleven Red Devils have earned postseason All-America status from various organizations since 1991, including an Associated Press Little All-America Second Team selection for current head coach Kurt Barth in 1996. Reasnover is Eureka's first postseason football All-American since Wes Schmidgall (D3ProDay.com, Beyond College Sports Network) and Alex Hess (D3ProDay.com) in 2011.

Reasnover was one of two UMAC players to earn the AFCA honor, joining Greenville tight end Gregoire Franchomme on the Second Team.
