MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Eureka baseball team dropped a 9-5 game against Ohio Wesleyan on a rainy day in Memphis on Saturday.

The Battling Bishops held the Red Devils to one earned run on three hits and seven walks.

Despite the final result, Eureka scored the first four runs of the game, notching two off unearned runs in the first and the fourth innings, but Ohio Wesleyan rallied for five runs in the fifth and tacked on four more in the seventh to secure the win.

In the first, Cole Tanner (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone/Knox) scored on an unearned run after a throwing error, and Braden Cox (Washington, Ill./Illini Bluffs/Black Hawk) scored on a sac fly RBI by Chase Ulrich (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria/Illinois Central College).

In the fourth, Kelton O'Grady (Camp Verde, Arizona/Camp Verde) notched an RBI groundout that scored Austin Davis (Eureka, Ill./Eureka), who reached on an error, and Nick Rulevish (Addieville, Ill./Okawville)) brought home Mike Dunne (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone/Lincoln Land) with an RBI single to the pitcher.

In the following inning, though, Ohio Wesleyan notched five runs on four hits to take the lead. Eureka evened the score with an RBI groundout by Davis, and it stayed that way until the top of the seventh inning, when the Battling Bishops added four more runs on three hits and two errors.

OWU scored nine runs on nine hits, seven walks and three Eureka errors.

Eureka's Tate Stone (Washington, Ill./Washington) delivered his first career triple with a poke to right-center in the second inning, and Rulevish and O'Grady each contributed a single.

Due to inclement weather, the Red Devils (2-2) will conclude the three-game series against the Battling Bishops (3-2) with a 1:30 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday.
