EUREKA – For the third straight week, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award belongs to Eureka's Karissa Heffernan (Metamora, Ill./Metamora/Lewis).

The speedy junior broke 19 minutes in a three-mile race for the first time in her career at the Bradley Intercollegiate XC Championship on Friday, breaking the school record with a time of 18:55.4 (6:18/mile). She placed 29th overall against a loaded field that featured three D1 teams and three D2 teams.

It's her third time being named SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week and the fourth SLIAC weekly honor of her career, following a SLIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor last spring.

The Red Devils will next be in action on Saturday, Sept. 30, when they travel to West Allis, Wisc. For the Warrior Invitational.
