Karissa Heffernan Named SLIAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

ST. LOUIS – Eureka's Karissa Heffernan (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

The junior standout paced the Red Devils with a 12th-place finish with a 5k time of 21:01 at the Rock River Invite on Friday.

It's her first time being named SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week and the second SLIAC weekly honor of her career following a SLIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor last spring.

A third-place finisher in the SLIAC Cross Country Meet last October, Heffernan entered this season as one of 10 SLIAC Preseason Watch List selections.
