Red Devils Sweep Senior Night Duals Against Joliet and Fontbonne

EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka wrestling team hosted its Senior Night on Thursday, with both the men's and women's teams earning victories over Joliet and Fontbonne.

On the men's side, Eureka cruised to a 52-0 shutout victory against Fontbonne and followed up with a 38-12 win over Joliet.

In the Fontbonne match, the Red Devils were dominant, securing a 52-0 victory. Jake Jozwiak (125) and Isaac Smith (133) both earned falls in under 1:10, while Alex Muhammad (165) picked up a 14-6 major decision. Tyren Moore (174) and Thomas Culp (184) each won by fall, with Moore securing his pin in 5:00 and Culp in 4:00.

Against Joliet, Gaige Owens started the dual strong with a 14-2 major decision victory at 141 pounds. Thomas Culp followed up with a 16-7 major decision victory at 197 pounds, and Jacob Kaminski finished the night with a pin in just 1:00 at 285 pounds.

On the women's side, the Red Devils continued their success, defeating Fontbonne 35-4 and Joliet 27-10. McKenzie Cook delivered an outstanding performance, winning by technical fall 10-0 at 160 pounds against Joliet, while Alex Parks earned a hard-fought 8-5 victory by decision at 180 pounds.

Prior to the meet, Eureka honored their senior class. Audrey Driskell, Vannah Berry, McKenzie Cook, Jake Jozwiak, Gaige Owens, Nathan Berta, Thomas Culp, and Jackson Creasy were all recognized for their significant contributions to the Red Devil wrestling program.

"It was a great Senior Night. The seniors helped build this program to the success we see today. I can't thank them enough," Head Coach Eric Biehl said after the meet. "It was fun to see them wrestle at a high level and then both teams go 2-0. We now look towards a big push for the postseason in hopes of continuing to compete at this high level."

The women's team will compete at the D3 Invite hosted by Augustana on February 8-9, while the men's team will not be in action again until the SLIAC Wrestling Championships in Clarksville, Arkansas, on February 16.
