Women’s Wrestling Places Four at Carthage Classic

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Eureka women's wrestling team competed at the Carthage Classic on Saturday, finishing with four place-winners and the second-highest winning percentage among all teams.

Kyley Bair and Natallie Tobuk led the Red Devils, each earning a second-place finish. Bair started her day in the 110-pound weight class with a win by decision. In her next matchup, she won by technical fall, advancing to the final. She was defeated by technical fall in the final, securing second place. Tobuk began her day with a win by fall in just 2:25 in the 131-pound weight class. She also won her next match by fall and was awarded a win by decision to advance to the final. She was defeated by fall in the final, earning second place.

In the 180-pound weight class, Alex Parks began with a 9-0 win by decision. After losing her next match by fall, she responded with another 9-0 decision victory and a 3-1 decision win, claiming third place.

Sofia Kawano began her day at 103 pounds with a loss by decision. She bounced back with a win by fall in just 43 seconds but lost by fall in her next two matches, finishing in sixth place.

McKenzie Cook and Kiza Williams also earned victories. Cook began her day at 145 pounds with a loss by decision. She bounced back with a 10-0 win by technical fall but couldn't maintain the momentum, as her day ended with another loss by decision. At 160 pounds, Williams started with a loss by fall. She won her next match by decision but lost by decision in her final match.

"The girls competed hard and wrestled well in tough positions today," said Head Coach Eric Biehl after the meet. "Several times they were down in the match but found ways to score points and control the match. I'm very proud of their efforts."
