ST. LOUIS – Eureka's Madison Farris (Chatsworth, Ill./Rifle) is the first-ever St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Wrestler of the Week.

The freshman received the award on Monday after turning in a strong performance in her first-ever collegiate wrestling meet over the weekend.

On Saturday, Farris recorded her first collegiate title at 170 pounds at the Jim Fox Invite in Dubuque. She recorded two pins on the day, including one in the championship match against teammate Parker Dafnis (Volo, Ill./Wauconda).

After defeating Dubuque's Brianna Sexias 10-6 and pinning Dubuque's Kiara Meek in 1:25, she notched a second-period fall over fellow freshman Dafnis in the championship match to clinch the title.

This is the Red Devils' second wrestling season in program history and the first season of wrestling for the SLIAC.

Both the women's and men's teams will compete at the Luther Open on Saturday at 9 a.m.
