Volleyball Falls at Knox
GALESBURG, Ill. – The Eureka volleyball team lost in four sets at Knox on Thursday night, with set scores of 19-25, 17-25, 25-19, and 17-25.
In the first set, the Red Devils found themselves in a deep hole, trailing 15-6, and were unable to recover, allowing the Prairie Fire to claim the set. The second set remained close for much of the way, but Knox pulled ahead in the end, winning 25-17 after taking the final four points. Eureka aimed to turn the match around in the third set, racing ahead to a 16-6 lead. The Red Devils finished the set strong, winning 25-19. However, they couldn't maintain that momentum in the fourth set and fell 25-17, resulting in a victory for Knox.
Alyssa Company (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln Community) led the Red Devils with 11 kills and 4 blocks. Brooklyn Shell (Evansville, Ind./Mount Vernon) led the team with 17 digs, while Maleaha Nagel (Abingdon, Ill./Abingdon-Avon) contributed 14 assists. Cloee O'Donoghue (Emden, Ill./Hartsburg-Emden) added 3 service aces for Eureka.

The Red Devils will host Greenville and Blackburn on Saturday, Oct. 26, with matches scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.
