Red Devils Drop Two at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eureka volleyball team lost in three sets against Westminster and Spalding on Saturday.

The Red Devils opened the day with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-15 loss against the Blue Jays and ended with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-12 loss against Spalding.

Daizjah Shannon (East St. Louis, Ill./Cahokia) led the Red Devils with six kills in the first match. Halle Gauna (Arcola, Ill./Arcola/Lincoln Trail College) hit .444 and finished with five kills, while Madison Richards (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) added four.

Libero Jurnee Flournoy (Decatur, Ill./Decatur MacArthur) posted a team-high seven digs. Brittney Mekelburg (Johnstown, Colo./Roosevelt) and Emma Sandlin (Greentown, Ind./Eastern) landed five and four aces, respectively.

Gauna tallied a team-high five kills while hitting a team-best .333 in the loss against Spalding. Shannon followed with four kills.

Eureka (3-14) will next face Lake Forest (13-4) on the road in non-conference action on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
