ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Webster stayed at the top of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 3-0 win over the Eureka volleyball team on Thursday.

The Red Devils had their moments, but they couldn't hold off the Gorloks. The final scores were 25-12, 25-12, 25-20.

Hallee Gauna (Arcola, Ill./Arcola/Lincoln Trail College) recorded a team-high seven kills for the maroon and gold. Daizjah Shannon (East St. Louis, Ill./Cahokia) followed with six kills and setter Hope McGinnes (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek-Mackinaw) posted 12 assists and 12 digs.

Libero Jurnee Flournoy (Decatur, Ill./Decatur MacArthur) came up with a team-high 16 digs.

The Red Devils were right there early on. They led 7-5 in the first set, but the Gorloks responded with a 12-2 run that turned the tide.

The home team kept the upper hand throughout the second set, but the Eureka found itself in the mix again in the third set. EC led 12-10 after a kill by Gauna. A 3-0 Eureka stretch that included a kill by Madison Richards (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) and Shannon made it 15-14. That ended up being EC's last lead of the night as Webster responded with a 5-0 run and kept Eureka at least two points back the rest of the way.

A Gauna kill made it 22-20, but the Gorloks claimed the last three points of the match to close it out.

Tyler Ramstack, Olivia Powell and Megan Zablonski each had eight kills for Webster.

Eureka (3-12, 2-8 SLIAC) will next travel to Louisville for another league tri-match. The Red Devils will take on Westminster (11-9, 6-2 SLIAC) at 11 a.m. and then face Spalding (8-11, 5-4 SLIAC) at 1 p.m.
