EC Volleyball Announces 2022 Recruiting Class

EUREKA – First-year Eureka volleyball coach Candace Van Bogaert announced a historic recruiting class on Tuesday. 

The Red Devils will be adding a program-record 19 players to its roster for the 2022 season. The maroon and gold will welcome 12 freshmen and seven transfers. Five of the seven transfers are from Lincoln College, where Van Bogaert previously coached. All are in-state talents.

The team is also set to bring back seven returners from last year's squad, including one seniors, three juniors and three sophomores.

"I am looking forward to this upcoming season with this recruiting class," Van Bogaert said. "These girls have a lot of potential, and I am excited to get them on the court with my returners this year to see what happens."

The Class of 2022 includes:

Lexi Beltramea

A 5-foot-3 freshman from Washburn, Lexi was team captain and lead server who led Lowpoint-Washburn in aces. A Coaches Award and Leadership Award recipient, she was also a student assistant coach for the junior high team, as well as a High Honors Student, Class President and Student Council President.

Alissa Crawford

A 5-foot-3 freshman from Farmer City, Alissa helped Blue Ridge capture their eighth regional championship. A two-time IHSA Scholar Award winner, she was also a four-year High Honors Student.

Keyanna Crowder

A 5-foot-4 freshman from Peoria Manual, Keyanna was a contributor for the Rams and an Honors Student.

Kacy Dunlap

A 5-foot-6 junior transfer from Lincoln College, Kacy previously helped lead Brown County to a regional championship.

Ariana Grund

A 5-foot-1 junior transfer from Kankakee Community College and Washington product, Ariana averaged 4.86 digs per set as a defensive specialist for the Cavaliers.

Sara Hart 

A 5-foot-6 freshman from Eureka, Sara helped lead the Hornets to a 32-8 record and a Heart of Illinois Conference championship. She also received an award for most assists, and was an HOI all-academic honoree and 4.0 student.

Frannie Heckman

A 5-foot-10 freshman from Roanoke-Benson, Frannie was a team captain and a First All-Tri-County honoree for the Rockets. She also helped lead her team to a regional championship.

Bailey Hessling

A 5-foot-9 freshman from Pekin, Bailey was a contributor on the Dragons' 2021 regional championship team.

LaNya Love

A 5-foot-8 junior transfer from Lincoln College, LaNya was a reserve middle hitter for the Lynx last season. She previously played for Cahokia High School.

Erika Major

A 5-foot-6 freshman from Poplar Grove, Erika previously played for North Boone High School.

Molly Masching

A 5-foot-4 freshman from Pontiac, Molly was a contributor for the Indians.

Addison Mason

A 5-foot-8 freshman from Pekin, Addison helped lead Peoria Christian to an Inter Count Athletic Conference championship.

Hope McGinnes

A 5-foot-8 junior transfer from Lincoln College, Hope averaged 6.09 assists per set in 34 matches for the Lynx last season and was previously a Second Team All-HOIC honoree at Deer Creek-Mackinaw. She was also an Honors Student.

Haley Morgan

A 5-foot-4 senior transfer from Lincoln Christian, Haley was a reserve defensive specialist for the Lynx last season, and was previously an Honors Student at Bloomington.

Karalyn Reed

A 5-foot-9 freshman setter from Midwest Central, Karalyn led the Raiders in assists, and she was an Academic All-Tomahawk Conference.

Katharine Reed

A 5-foot-10 freshman from Midwest Central, Katharine was a contributor for the Raiders.

Madison Richards

A 5-foot-10 freshman from Princeton, Madison was a Second Team All-Three Rivers Conference and All-Area honoree and a team captain for the Tigers. An Academic All-Three Rivers honoree, she was also a High Honors Student.

Salena Sayre

A 5-foot-10 sophomore transfer from Southeastern Community College, Salena averaged 2.26 kills per set and finished with 300 kills on the season for the Blackhawks last season. She was previously a First Team All-SEISC and Second Team All-State honoree who set the school record for kills at Van Buren County High School and helped her team reach the state quarterfinals.

Daizjah Shannon

A 5-foot-6 junior transfer from Lincoln College, Daizjah was previously an outside hitter for the Lynx and a contributor for Cahokia High School.
