EC Volleyball Bested by No. 19 Westminster, 3-0

FULTON, Mo. – The Eureka volleyball team dropped a 3-0 road match against No. 19 Westminster on Friday evening.

It was the Red Devils' second straight night facing a nationally ranked squad on the road. And after competing with No. 14 Webster on Thursday, the Blue Jays claimed this one, 25-11, 25-15, 25-15.

The Red Devils improved from .048 hitting in the first set to .105 and .104 in the second and third.

Junior Corinne DeBoard (Centralia, Ill./Christ Our Rock Lutheran) hit a team-best .258 and finished with a team-high eight kills on 31 swings and had nine digs.

Emma Harris (Streator, Ill./Streator) followed with six kills on 22 swings, while Katelin Peters (New Berlin, Ill./New Berlin) and Faith Catour (Orion, Ill./Orion) each added three kills.

Rori Dosemagen (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) led the team with 10 digs and Catour had 12 assists. Regan Reed (Flanagan, Ill./Flanagan-Cornell) recorded the team's only ace, had one kill and contributed nine digs. Peters made a solo block and teamed up with Catour for another.

On the other side of the net, Westminster's Natalie Needy and Haley Menke led the way with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Gretchen Durbala dished 31 assists, while Eryka Wanyoni (17 digs), Erica Schrader (14 digs) and Allie Kennebeck (11 digs) did defensive work in the back row.

Eureka (0-13, 0-13 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play) will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday against Iowa Wesleyan (1-11, 1-11 SLIAC) at 7 p.m.
