JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – After trailing 2-0 to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival MacMurray College, the Eureka College volleyball team battled to force a fifth set, but it wasn't enough as they were edged in five sets, 18-25, 14-25, 25-23, 25-19, 7-15, Thursday evening in Jacksonville, Ill.
Freshman opposite Heather Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) provided a team-high 17 kills, while classmate outside hitter Lexi Dooley (Sutter, Ill./Warsaw) added 14. Sophomore setter Meagan Hanney (Sherman, Ill./Williamsville) tallied 29 assists on the night.
Freshman defensive specialist Jordan Detmers (Hartsburg, Ill./Hartsburg-Emden) recorded a season-high 30 digs for the visitor, and Robinson notched a season-high three total blocks to lead the Eureka defense.
Eureka will continue conference action next week when they visit the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers. First set is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
