Webster breezes past Eureka in SLIAC play
EUREKA, Ill. – St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference powerhouse Webster got a match-high 11 kills from Emily Knowles and committed only ten errors as a team for a .369 hitting percentage to earn a 25-14, 25-11, 25-11 league victory over the Eureka College volleyball team, Wednesday night at the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center.
Eureka sophomore outside hitter Beth Mickna (Deer Creek, Ill./Dee-Mack) tallied five kills, while freshman outside hitter Lexi Dooley (Sutter, Ill./Warsaw) added four. The Red Devils had 17 kills as a team. Freshman opposite Heather Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) collected eight of the Red Devils' 13 assists and added three kills.
Freshman Jordan Detmers (Hartsburg, Ill./Hartsburg-Emden) led EC defensively with 10 digs, while classmate Ava Patterson (Emden, Ill./Hartsburg-Emden) notched eight.
Eureka will be back in conference action next Tuesday down in Principia. First set of the match is set for 7 p.m. against the Panthers.
