Red Devils Shine at Roger Haynes Invitational

MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Eureka cross country and distance team continued to build momentum on Saturday at the Roger Haynes Invitational, hosted by Monmouth College. The Red Devils posted multiple personal bests and season-best performances as they near the conference championships.
The women's team put together strong efforts across the board. Emily Baker (Washington, Ill./Washington) competed in the mile, finishing with a time of 6:51.57. In the 400m, Rachel Fisher (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) ran a time of 1:11.02, while Isabella Carbajal (Chicago, Ill./Shepard) clocked in at 1:14.85, improving her season-best by a full second and coming close to her personal record.
On the men's side, Bailey Webster (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) delivered an impressive performance, shaving 10 seconds off his previous personal best in the mile with a time of 4:40.43, which is currently the fourth fastest time in the conference. Webster also ran the 800m in 2:10.24. Jose Amador (Kempton, Ill./Tri-Point) bounced back from a DNF in the mile to set a new personal record in the 400m, finishing in 56.90. Hayden Skaggs (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield) also improved in the 400m, running a season-best 1:12.10.

The Red Devils will compete in their final tune-up meet before the conference championship when they travel to Jacksonville, Ill., for the Illinois College Hilltop Classic on Friday. They will then shift their focus to the SLIAC Indoor Conference Championships on March 1.
