Red Devils Distance Team Competes in Monmouth Midwest Invitational 

MONMOUTH, IL. – The Eureka distance team kicked off their spring semester at the Monmouth Midwest Invitational on Saturday. 

Eureka junior Karissa Heffernan (Metamora, Ill./Metamora/Lewis) won the women's mile with a time of 5.39.28 and the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:27.55, crossing the line a full minute ahead of the next best runner.  

Sophomore Rachel Fisher (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) won the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:32.78. 

Emily Baker (Washington, Ill./Washington) put up a 6.27.08 mile and finished the 800 in 3:02.19, placing 4th in both events.  

Jaden Randall (Secor, Ill./Roanoke-Benson), Isabella Carbajal (Chicago, Ill./Shepard), and Alyssa Bryant (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) finished 6th, 7th, and 8th in the women's 400, recording times of 1:14.47, 1:18.11, and 1:20.92, respectively. 

For the men's distance team, Bailey Webster (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) took 3rd in the men's 5000 meter run with a time of 17:21.86 and Tony DeLira (Chicago, Ill./Alcott/Lincoln) took 4th at 17:37.08. Webster later took 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.08, while Jose Amador (Kempton, Ill./Tri-Point) took 6th with a 2:15.01 finish. Webster was edged out by Monmouth's Jon Brauman by .02 seconds. 

Freshman Michael Beaumont (Greenup, Ill./Cumberland) took 8th in the men's mile with a time of 5.38.28. Teammate Tucker Williamson (Monticello, Ill./Monticello) was next to the line, finishing in 5.49.05. 

Khalil Alleyne (Diego Martin, Trinidad/Fatima College) finished his 400 meter dash in 56.81, which was good enough for 4th place.  

The Eureka women's team finished the 4x400 in 5:13.21 and the men finished in 4th place at 4:05.67.   

The Red Devils will next compete in the Illinois Wesleyan Bob Keck Invite on Feb. 3 at 11 a.m.
