EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka women's soccer team continued SLIAC play on Saturday afternoon at McKinzie Field, falling 10-0 to Spalding.
Spalding took control early, scoring just 85 seconds into the match and setting the tone for the first half. By the 28th minute, Spalding had already built a commanding 4-0 lead.
Despite the early goals, Eureka continued to battle. Goalkeeper Hannah Jachimiak (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) made several key saves in the first half, including a pair of back-to-back saves in the opening minutes.
Trailing 7-0 at halftime, Eureka brought in Chloe Pluger (Coal City, Ill./Coal City) in goal. Pluger stood tall in the second half, making eight saves to help slow Spalding's attack.
Spalding added three more goals in the final 45 minutes, including Emma Livingston's fifth of the day and a late strike from Emma Scheumann in the 87th minute to cap off the scoring and finish the 10-0 defeat for Eureka.
