Women’s Soccer Falls to Westminster

EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Westminster at McKinzie Field on Saturday afternoon. 

The Red Devils' defense held strong for most of the match but faltered late in the second half, allowing 33rdand 38th minute goals, which gave the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead going into halftime. In the second half, Eureka generated its best chance of the game when Morgan Oginsky (Flushing, Mich./Flushing) broke through on goal, but her shot was saved, keeping the Red Devils scoreless. Addison Byers (Flushing, Mich./Flushing) also had a chance to to score off a corner kick but was unable to put her effort on target. Finally, in the 68th minute, Westminster found a third goal, extending their lead to 3-0, which they maintained for the remainder of the contest.

Westminster outshot Eureka 27-2, with 15 shots on target compared to just 1 for Eureka. Hannah Jachimiak (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) had a strong performance in goal for the Red Devils, recording 10 saves in 79 minutes of play, just one shy of her career high for saves in a game.
