Women’s Soccer Falls on Senior Night

EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka women's soccer team lost 4-0 to Principia at home on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils kept the game close for much of the first half, but two goals within a minute gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead at halftime. Eureka recorded 2 shots compared to Principia's 5 in the first half. The second half was significantly different, with Principia dominating possession. The Panthers outshot Eureka 16-0 in that half and added two more goals in the 75th and 76th minutes, ultimately winning the match 4-0.

Overall, Principia recorded 21 shots, with 12 on goal, while Eureka managed 2 shots, with 1 on goal. Brianna Murphy (Grand Blanc, Mich./Flint Powers) accounted for the Red Devils' only shot on goal from a free kick in the first half. Morgan Oginsky (Flushing, Mich./Flushing) took the other shot for Eureka, missing just wide from long range after noticing the goalkeeper off her line. Hannah Jachimiak (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) started in goal for Eureka, making 5 saves in 75 minutes of play, while Megan Edwards (Manchester, Mich.) played the final 15 minutes in goal and recorded 3 saves.

Prior to kickoff, Eureka honored Alyssa Bryant (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods), their only senior. Bryant's final home game will be on Saturday, Oct. 19, against Westminster.
