Eureka Holds Blackburn to Four

CARLINVILLE, Ill. –  The Eureka women's soccer team held Blackburn to four goals in a 4-0 loss on the road on Wednesday.

It was the Red Devils' best result on the pitch in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this season.

The Beavers put away three goals in the first half and didn't score again until the late in the match.

Libby Adams notched the first goal of the day in the sixth minute, Izzy Erickson made it 2-0 in the 13th, and Sophia King scored on assist by Adams in the 27th minute. Adams scored her second goal of the match and ninth of the season in the 83rd.

Eureka goalkeeper Gabby Penberthy (Sullivan, Ill./Sullivan) made 10 saves in 90 minutes in net, while Elizabeth Rensman (Mechanicsburg, Ill./Sangamon Valley) recorded the team's lone shot of the day.

On Friday, Eureka (0-13, 0-8 SLIAC) will wrap up the 2023 season with a home match against Westminster at 7 p.m.
