EUREKA – The Eureka women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest against Westminster on Friday.

Shorthanded due to injuries, the Red Devils dropped back and played defensive-mindedly for the majority of the match.

Westminster tallied 40 shots and put 17 on frame, but Eureka pressured and limited their best looks.

Freshman goalkeeper Lizzie Brooksher (Saint Charles, Mo./Saint Charles) notched 15 saves in 90 minutes in the net for the Red Devils. Senior Daniela Gonzales (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods/Lincoln) recorded the team's lone shot on goal.

Hannah Shylanski put the Blue Jays on the board late in the first half, and Peyton Montana made it 2-0 early in the second. Shylanski also had a match-high five shots on goal.

It was the first time EC has held Westminster to two goals since 2013.

Eureka (2-2, 1-1 SLIAC) will next take on Principia (1-1-2, 0-1) on the road on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
