Red Devils Tied for Seventh in SLIAC Preseason Women’s Soccer Poll

ST. LOUIS – The Eureka women's soccer team has been selected tied for seventh in the 2022 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll.  

The poll, which was conducted by league coaches, featured the Red Devils with 11 points, along with Blackburn.

Fontbonne, led the way after last year's undefeated conference run, tallying 46 points and nabbing four first-place votes to stay just ahead of Webster. The Gorloks received 44 points and four first-place votes.

Greenville (36), Westminster (31), and Spalding (28) were third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Principia finished six points ahead of the Red Devils and Beavers, notching 17 points.

Eureka is coming off a 4-14 2021 season that featured a slew of program-best performances, including the team's most wins since the 2015 season.

The team returns five starters in Daniela Gonzales (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods/Lincoln), Kate LeMasters (Metamora, Ill./Metamora), Alyssa Bryant (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods), Hope Binder (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) and Mackenzie Daniels (Monticello, Ill./Monticello) and features a promising class of newcomers.

The Red Devils will open the 2022 season at Earlham on Saturday, Sept. 3 in a 5 p.m. season opener.
