Eureka Holds Fontbonne to Four Goals in 4-0 Loss

EUREKA – The Eureka women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 Homecoming match against Fontbonne on Friday, cutting in half the Griffins' goals against Eureka in the past two matchups between the teams.

It was the least amount of goals the Red Devils have conceded against the Griffins since 2012, continuing the Red Devils' season trend of gaining on their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents.

Four different Griffins found the back of the net: Alexandria Smith, Molly Kovarik and Claire Dalton. Krystal Kohenskey notched two assists.

The Griffins notched three goals in the first 21 minutes, then didn't score against until the 69th.

Eureka goalkeeper Abby Swope (Canton, Ill./Canton) notched 16 saves on the night, giving her 685 in career and bringing her within six saves of cracking the top 24 in career saves list by an NCCAA Division III player.

On Wednesday, Eureka (2-7, 1-5 SLIAC) will look to compete a season sweep over Blackburn (0-7, 0-5 SLIAC) when the Beavers come to McKnizie Field for a 5 p.m. showdown.
