EUREKA — On one of the chilliest nights of the season, and perhaps the snowiest match in program history, the Eureka women's soccer team played its final home contest of the season at McKinzie Field on Thursday.

Spalding scored five goals in the first half en route to a 7-0 victory over the Red Devils.

Andrea Hayden notched a hat trick, Dori Emig poked in two and Bailey Whitehead, and Taylor Strine each found the back of the net twice in the Golden Eagles' fifth St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season.

The SLIAC's saves leaders, Abby Swope (Canton, Ill./Canton), added 16 to her season total for the Red Devils, and now has 252 on the year.

Shorthanded due to injury and illness and with much of the turf covered in snow, the maroon and gold braved unusual weather conditions and stuck it out until the final whistle.

First-year coach Shelby Chrisman-Forza and the Red Devils (1-15-0) will conclude the 2019 season on Saturday at Fontbonne. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
