Iowa Wesleyan Bests Red Devils, 7-1

MOUNT PLEASANT, IowaPhoenix Johnson (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone H.S.) scored for the fourth time this season in the 60th minute but the Eureka College women's soccer team dropped a 7-1 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Iowa Wesleyan, Wednesday afternoon in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

Johnson is the 22nd player in program history to score at least four goals in a season and joins Kesli Blankenship (2010), Katie Huizinga (2007), Mecayela Monroe (2015), Jessica Smith (2007) and Lydia Zimmerman (2013) as the only Eureka freshmen to score four or more goals in their first seasons of collegiate soccer. Johnson's four career goals are now tied for 16th on the Red Devils' all-time list.

Jaiden Rogers scored the match-winning goal for IWU in the 13th minute on an assist from Elwynn Tamahaga.

Eureka will visit Westminster this Saturday at 1 p.m. in Fulton, Mo.
