Red Devils Victorious Over Eagles Friday Afternoon

EUREKA, Ill. – Senior Faith Williams (Robinson, Ill./Robinson) tallied her second multi-goal game of the season with goals in the 38th and 48th minute, pacing the Red Devils to 3-1 non-conference victory over the Faith Baptist Bible Eagles, Friday afternoon at Traister Field.

After Eureka peppered the Eagle defense with seven shot attempts and three corner kicks through the first ten minutes of the match, senior Kaitlyn West (Fort Worth, Texas/Haltom) got the Red Devils on the board in the 38th minute thanks to a crisp cross through the defense from Williams. The goal was West's first of the season.

Williams tallied the match-winner late in the second half on a shot inside the 6-yard box. Junior defender Emily Phillips (Philo, Ill./Unity) picked up her first assist of the season on the goal.

Eureka got futher assistance early in the second half when Williams finished a pass from sophomore Emily Hascher(Cincinnati, Ohio/Anerson) inside the visitors' penalty area. Hascher's assist was her second of the season.

The Eagles would get on the board later in the half after Molly Shepard intercepted a Red Devil pass near Eureka's penalty area and powered a shot passed the Eureka goal keeper.

The Red Devils controlled possession for most of the match and held a 25-7 advantage in shots attempted. Freshman Macayela Monroe (Litchfield, Ill./Litchfield) led all players with 9 shots, followed by Williams with eight. Shepard paced the visitors with three shots, two of which were on frame. Eureka junior goal keeper Kalionna Mathews (Troy, Ill./Triad) made three saves.

Eureka will continue non-conference action tomorrow on the road against the Rockford Regents. Game time for that match is set for 3 p.m. in Rockford, Ill.
