Fontbonne Tops Eureka, 78-46

EUREKA, IL. – The Eureka women's basketball team was defeated by Fontbonne on Wednesday, falling 78-46 in St. Louis.

Despite a tough result, first year Eureka coach, Mike Hedrick, must be pleased with the team effort in this one, as 8 of 9 Red Devils that saw time on the floor found their way onto the scoreboard.

Makayla Rosenbery's (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) led Eureka in scoring with 10 points. Rosenbery also recorded 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a team-high 3 assists.

Josie Ness (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) had an enormous night on the glass, bringing down 19 rebounds for the maroon and gold. Ness also added 7 points and 2 blocks.

Brin Hultz (Quincy, Ill./Travecca Nazarene) knocked down a pair of three-pointers and totaled 8 points on the night. Lainey Moore (Sullivan, Ill./Sullivan) added 7 points to Eureka's scoring. And, Ashley Wilcox (Hudson, Ill./Normal West) and Ariel Chism (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) each chipped in 5 points apiece.

 

Fontbonnes's Ja'mise Bailey and Hannah Myers combined for 39 of the Griffins' points: Bailey notched 20 and Myers scored 19. Brianna Beamer added another 10 points off the bench for the home team. 

On Saturday afternoon, Eureka (5-17, 3-12 SLIAC) tips off at home against Westminster (13-9, 11-4 SLIAC) at 1:00 p.m. CST.
