Eureka’s Josie Ness Selected SLIAC Player of the Week

EUREKA – After posting another career game this weekend, Eureka's Josie Ness (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The 5-foot-11 junior forward is a first-time Player of the Week honoree.

On Saturday, she recorded a double-double of a career-high 19 points and 19 rebounds in the Red Devils' 71-56 SLIAC victory over Blackburn. Ness shot 9-for-16 from the field, contributed a career-high six steals and four blocks, and didn't commit a single turnover in 35 minutes of play.

Through six games, Ness leads the SLIAC in rebounds per game (13.2) and blocks per game (3.0). She is also the Red Devils' leading scorer, averaging 10.7 points per game.

Eureka is 3-3 on the season and 1-0 in SLIAC play. The Red Devils host undefeated Webster (7-0, 2-0 SLIAC) on Wednesday inside Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
