Eureka Falls at Franklin, 89-47

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Eureka women's basketball team couldn't keep up with Franklin in non-conference action on Wednesday, falling 89-47 on the road.

The home team sunk five 3-pointers and scored 30 points in the first quarter to set the tone, and the Red Devils played from behind the rest of the way.

Eureka freshman Lainey Moore (Sullivan, Ill./Sullivan) tallied a team-high and season-high 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting. It was her second straight game finishing in double-figures for the Red Devils.  

Ashley Wilcox (Hudson, Ill./Normal West) followed with 11 points and a team-high three steals. Josie Ness (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) pulled down 12 rebounds, along with seven points, three blocks and two steals. It was the junior forward's third game of recording 10 rebounds or more.

Makayla Rosenbery (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) notched eight points and six rebounds, while Avery Seidel (Wayne City, Ill./Wayne City) added six points.

Franklin's Taylor Cooney led the Bears with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Jordan Coon contributed 10 points. All 18 players who entered the game got on the board for the home team as it shot 52.3 percent on the night and made 11 triples.

On Saturday, Eureka (2-3) will look to bounce back when it opens open St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Blackburn (2-4). League play is set to begin at 1 p.m.
