Shakaya Rogers Named SLIAC Player of the Week

EUREKA – For the first time in her career, Eureka's Shakaya Rogers (Hanover, Mich./Concord/Glen Oaks) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The senior point guard averaged 15 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in win crucial wins that helped the Red Devils clinch a postseason berth.

She shot 75 percent from the field on the week. After a terrific all-around performance against Principia in which she tallied 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals, Rogers posted her third career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds at Spalding on Saturday.

This is Eureka's second SLIAC Player of the Week award this winter, following Sydney Hannam's (Canton, Ill./Canton/Spoon River) in January.

On Tuesday at 7 p.m., the sixth-seeded Red Devils (8-17, 5-9 SLIAC) will take on third-seeded Westminster (16-9, 10-4 SLIAC) in the SLIAC Tournament quarterfinals in Fulton, Missouri.
