DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Eureka women's basketball team fell against Dubuque 97-55 in their non-conference season opener on the road on Friday.
The home team jumped out to a 29-10 lead in the first quarter and didn't take the pedal off the gas, shooting 62.9 percent from the field on the night.
Eureka senior Sydney Hannam (Canton, Ill./Canton/Spoon River) tallied a team-high 12 points and had six rebounds and three steals.
Senior Shakaya Rogers (Hanover, Mich./Concord/Glen Oaks) and freshman Reece Putrich (Farmington, Ill./Farmington Central) each added nine points, with the former adding three steals and the latter knocking down a team-high three rebounds.
Senior Abby Stotler (Wyoming, Ill./Stark County/MacMurray) notched eight points and eight rebounds and had two blocks. Sophomore Josie Ness (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) posted five points and six boards.
Isabella Tierney (15 points), Lauren Livingston (12) and Morgan Hawkins (10) all reached double figures for Dubuque.
Eureka (0-1) will look to bounce back on Wednesday, when the Red Devils host Monmouth (0-1) in their home opener. Tip-off inside Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center is set for 7 p.m.
