Eureka Can’t Keep Up With Blue Jays on Road, 93-65

FULTON, Mo. – The Eureka women's basketball team couldn't keep up with Reese Arnold and Westminster on Saturday.

Arnold, a senior guard, tallied a program-record 45 points, propelling the Blue Jays to a 93-65 victory. She shot 16-for-22 from the floor, put away 10 of 10 free throws and hit 3 of 4 3-point tries. She also notched six rebounds, five steals and two blocks.

Westminster improved to 7-1 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, while EC fell to 1-4.

Eureka's Olivia Falls led the Red Devils with 26 points on 12-of-17 shooting and was one of three EC players to notch five rebounds.

Kennedy Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone/Carl Sandburg) followed with 14 points and five rebounds, while Savanah Moore (Clinton, Ill./Mt. Pulaski) added 12 points and made a pair of 3s.

Madison Jernagin (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone/Blackburn) also hauled in five rebounds. Sydney Hannam (Canton, Ill./Canton) and Shakaya Rogers (Hanover, Mich./Concord/Glen Oaks) had six and five points, respectively.

The Red Devils trailed by 19 at halftime, and despite rising to 47.1 percent field-goal percentage in the third quarter and 52.6 percent in the fourth quarter, they were unable to chip into the lead.

On Tuesday, Eureka (5-10, 1-4 SLIAC) will head back on the road to take on Blackburn (4-13, 2-5 SLIAC) at 5:30 p.m.
