Monmouth Takes Down Eureka, 73-43

EUREKA – Eureka's Savanah Moore (Clinton, Ill./Mt. Pulaski) scored a career-high 19 points in a 73-43, non-conference loss at Monmouth on Wednesday.

Senior Olivia Falls (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) added 11 points and classmate Kennedy Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Josie Ness (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) contributed five points, four rebounds and three steals, while Marissa Murphy (Canton, Ill./Canton) led the team with five assists and five steals, along with five rebounds and four points.

The Red Devils stayed within eight points in the first frame, but the Fighting Scots began to pull away with a 29-point second quarter in which the team went 11-for-17 from the floor. The home team held EC to 17 points in the second half.

Eureka, which was playing for the second night in a row with a limited roster due to COVID-19 protocols, will next continue non-conference play against Beloit on Saturday at 1 p.m.
