EUREKA — Four Eureka women's basketball players have received St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors for the 2021 spring season.
Abby Stotler (Wyoming, Ill./Stark County) was named to the All-SLIAC Second Team, Olivia Falls (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) was named to the Third Team, Marissa Murphy (Canton, Ill./Canton) was selected to the All-Defensive Team and Shakaya Rogers (Hanover, Mich./Concord) was voted SLIAC Sixth Woman of the Year.
Stotler, a 5-foot-7 sophomore transfer from MacMurray, was the Red Devils' leading scorer in her first season in maroon and gold, averaging 13.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 35.8 percent from the floor.
A first-time All-SLIAC honoree, she scored 20 points or more three times this season, dropping a season-high 23 points in EC's breakthrough 83-70 win over Illinois College. She also notched three double-doubles (18 points and 10 rebounds against Blackburn, 20 points, 10 rebounds against Fontbonne on March 16 and 14 points and 14 rebounds against Fontbonne on March 23).
Stotler finished the season fifth in the league in total rebounds with 102.
Falls, a first team honoree last year, had another terrific season for the Red Devils, averaging 11.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while being one of the most efficient shooters in the league. The 5-foot-8 junior finished fourth in the SLIAC in field-goal percentage (55.2 percent) and was fourth in free throws made with 45 in 61 tries. She also led the league in total rebounds with 135 and was third in the league with 9.6 boards per night.
Falls had eight double-doubles, posted 10 or more rebounds eight times and reached double figures in scoring 11 times in 14 games.
Murphy, a 5-foot-8 junior, is a first-time All-SLIAC Defensive Team selection after leading the league with 36 steals in 14 games.
With her long arms and strong court vision, Murphy was a game-changer on the defensive end and in transition for the Red Devils. She snagged at least three steals six times and made five swipes in three big Red Devil wins.
Rogers became the Red Devils' second straight Sixth Woman of the Year award winner. A 5-foot-5 junior transfer from Glen Oaks Community College, she averaged 7.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. She shot 43-percent from the field and connected on seven three's while adding 12 steals.
Freshman Kyla Simmons (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek-Mackinaw) was Eureka's representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
