EUREKA – The Eureka women's basketball team fell in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play for the first time this spring on Saturday, dropping a 65-53 road contest at Spalding.
Marissa Murphy (Canton, Ill./Canton) led the Red Devils in scoring 16 points on a day the Red Devils uncharacteristically struggled to put points on the board. She was 6-for-13 from the field with a 3-pointer and a team-high three steals.
Olivia Falls (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) followed with 11 points and four boards and Shakaya Rogers (Hanover, Mich./Concord) added 10. Kennedy Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) gathered a team-high 11 boards and Abby Stotler (Wyoming, Ill./Wyoming) pulled down eight.
Three Golden Eagles reached double figures, with Natalie Fichter scoring a team-high 15, followed by Hunter Wright and Kendyl Powell with 13 and 10, respectively.
Eureka (4-3, 3-1 SLIAC) will look to bounce back on Tuesday in a 5:30 p.m. SLIAC battle with Fontbonne (2-2, 2-2).
