For Fourth Time, Olivia Falls is SLIAC Player of the Week
EUREKA — Once again, Olivia Falls (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
It's the fourth time the 5-foot-8 sophomore from Bloomington has received the honor this season.
This week, Falls averaged 21.5 points and 12 rebounds per game while shooting 65 percent from the floor and going 17-for-19 from the free-throw line in a pair of wins over MacMurray and Iowa Wesleyan. She also averaged 5.5 steals and 5 assists per game.
On Thursday, Falls posted 28 points on 7-of-8 shooting, pulled down 12 rebounds, made 14-of-15 free throws, recorded five steals and had three assists as the Red Devils held off MacMurray on the road, 96-87.
Two days later, she contributed 15 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and six steals in a 94-62 victory over Iowa Wesleyan.
With four games to play in the regular season, Falls is third in the SLIAC in scoring with 15.9 points per game while shooting a league-best 59.8 percent from the field.
She has made the second most free throws behind teammate Ashley Harfst (Saunemin, Ill./Pontiac), with 101 in 132 tries, and is third in rebounds per game with 10.4 — just .5 off Harfst's league-high 10.9.
EC is currently in a four-way tie for third place in the SLIAC with Greenville, Spalding and Westminster. The Red Devils (13-8, 9-5) will host league co-leader Fontbonne (13-8, 12-2 SLIAC) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
