George's solid week in the circle leads to SLIAC honor

CARLINVILLE, Ill. – Eureka College sophomore softball player Kali George (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week. George went to 2-0 inside the circle last week, surrendering just one run.

George began her week with a complete game shutout against Alverno College on Sunday. The righty scattered six hits, walked a pair and struck out two.

On Wednesday George fired a one-hitter in game one of a non-conference twinbill against Rockford College. George's lone hit allowed, a solo home run to RU's cleanup hitter Brittany Bura, was the only blemish of the afternoon. George struck out six and walked three and improves to 5-1 on the season in the circle.

Monday's announcement is the second weekly award given to an EC softball player this season. ClassmateKerrigan Dura was chosen as the SLIAC Hitter of the Week last week. The Red Devils will host Knox College this afternoon in non-conference action. First pitch of the game one is set for 3 p.m. at Eureka Middle School.
