CARLINVILLE, Ill. – For the second time this season, Eureka College freshman softball player Kerrigan Dura (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week. This marks the third week in a row an EC softball player has collected a weekly award.

SLIAC Release

Dura continued her torrid pace at the plate as Eureka's three-hole hitter, the first-year player finished with a .750 (21-for-28) batting average, .788 on-base percentage and 1.357 slugging percentage last week. She supplied 25 runs batted in over eight games and tallied 21 runs scored. Of her 21 hits, 13 went for extra bases (10 doubles, two triples, one home run).

She put the finishing touches on her blistering week at the plate Sunday when the Red Devils hosted Westminster in a conference doubleheader. Dura amassed 14 RBIs in an 8-for-9 effort at the plate over the two contests. She blasted her third home run of the season, scored five runs and added four doubles and a triple.

Dura's week ended with her break the school's record for most runs batted in in a season (43) with 46 on the year and half of the season remaining. The first-year player has successful hit in eighteen of 20 games, accumulating multiple hits in 15 games.

Nationally, in games played through March 31st, Dura is fourth in batting average, 5th in runs batted in per game, 9th in runs batted in, 10th in slugging percentage and 14th in on-base percentage.

While her offensive numbers are eye-popping, the catcher/shortstop has maintained a perfect fielding percentage over 19 putouts and 15 assists.

Monday's announcement marks the third Red Devil to be selected for a weekly conference honor this season. Dura and the conference-leading Red Devils will be back in action on Wednesday, playing a conference doubleheader against Blackburn Beavers. First pitch of game one is slated for 3 p.m.
