Charlton Grabs Two Top-5 Finishes at Titan Open

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Eureka College sophomore Brett Charlton (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) finished second in the long jump and added a sixth-place performance in the 60 meter dash, pacing the Red Devils at the Titan Top Times Open hosted by Illinois Wesleyan, Saturday afternoon in Bloomington, Ill.

Charlton qualified for the 60 meter final with a preliminary time of 7.15 seconds, sixth-fastest among 51 runners. Charlton ultimately placed fourth in the final with a time of 7.14 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Charlton earned an 11th place finish with a time of 23.49 seconds. Sophomore Josh Kuse (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth H.S.) was 25th in the 200 with a time of 24.39 seconds.

In other sprint events, Jonathan Schertz (El Paso, Ill./El Paso H.S.) finished the 60 meter wheelchair dash first with a time of 21.69 seconds.

Charlton narrowly missed an individual crown in the long jump, turning in a jump of 6.55 meters (21-feet, 5.87-inches) to finish in second place. Junior Collin Aimone (Spring Valley, Ill./Hall H.S.) was eighth in the long jump with a final effort of 6.23 meters (20-feet, 5.27-inches).
