LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eureka men's soccer team fell behind early on Saturday afternoon and could not recover, losing 5-0.
The Golden Eagles took the lead just 21 seconds into the match and maintained pressure throughout, adding goals in the 15th and 31st minutes to take a commanding three-goal lead into halftime. The Red Devils struggled to respond in the second half, conceding two more goals to end the match 5-0.
Spalding outshot Eureka 24-7 and recorded 13 shots on target compared to four for Eureka. Uli Castaneda (Bloomington, Ill./Normal West) led the Red Devils with two shots, one of which was on target. Brayton Strawkas (Buffalo, Ill./Tri-City) started in goal for Eureka, making six saves in 75 minutes of play. Carson Harvey (Pembroke, Ga./Bryan County) played the final 15 minutes in goal for the Red Devils, recording two saves.
