EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka men's soccer team lost 4-0 to Hope on Saturday afternoon at McKinzie Field.
The Flying Dutchmen got off to a quick start, scoring in the 3rd minute of play to take a 1-0 lead. Eureka fought hard against Hope for most of the remainder of the first half until a bicycle kick in the 41st minute gave the Dutchmen a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Much like the first half, Hope recorded an early goal in the second half, scoring in the 53rd minute to extend their lead to 3-0. The Dutchmen added a fourth goal in the 77th minute, converting a free kick to to seal the 4-0 victory.
Hope outshot Eureka 23-1, with 9 shots on goal,compared to none for the Red Devils. Sophomore defender Aiden Andrews (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central) recorded the only shot of the day for Eureka. Freshman goalkeeper Kohle Andrakowicz (Elgin, Okla./Elgin) recorded 5 saves and 3 goals allowed in his 77 minutes in net.
