GRINNELL, Iowa – The Eureka men's soccer team dropped a close match against Grinnell on Sunday afternoon, losing 1-0.
The game went into halftime tied 0-0, with both teams recording 5 shots. Early in the second half, the Pioneers broke the tie in the 58th minute. The Red Devils fought hard for the rest of the match and had their chances but were unable to find the back of the net for the third game in a row.
Grinnell outshot Eureka 10-8 and placed 4 shots on goal, compared to 3 for the Red Devils. Jacob Russow(Streator, Ill./Streator), Joyce Kabesa (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington), and Pascal Calonges (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) recorded the three shots on goal for Eureka. Goalkeeper Kohle Andrakowicz (Elgin, Okla./Elgin) made 3 saves.
