EUREKA, IL. – The Eureka men's soccer team began their season with a 3-0 loss to Benedictine in a non-conference matchup at McKinzie Field on Friday night.
The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half, scoring in the 30th minute of the contest. They extended their lead with two more goals in the second half, scoring goals in the 58th and 79th minute.
Despite generating twelve shots, with seven on target, the Red Devils could not find the back of the net. Freshman Anthony Gutierrez (Elmwood Park, Ill./Elmwood Park) led the Red Devils with four shots, three of which were on target. Freshman goalkeeper Kohle Andrakowicz (Elgin, Okla./Elgin) made eight saves in his debut performance as a Red Devil.
