HOLLAND, Mich. – The Eureka men's soccer team fell 7-1 on the road against a very strong Hope squad on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutchmen netted four goals in the first half and tacked on three more in the second. Eureka got on the board on an own goal in the 36th minute, making it 3-1.

Hope struck again less than five minute later, however, regaining a three-goal lead, which only grew from there.

Eureka posted five shots in the second half. Santiago Herrera (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Americano de Guayaquil/Lincoln) and Jake Edmondson (Monticello, Ill./Monticello) each put on frame for the Red Devils.

Reece Brown scored twice for the home team. Five others found the back of the net as well: Josh Weigel, Thomas DeVries, Reece Brown, Cole Pauly, Griffin Brown and O'lee Olsen.

Wednesday was Eureka's last non-conference test before the team opens St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Red Devils (2-3-2) will next take on SLIAC foe Principia (2-4) on the road on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
