EUREKA – Westminster took down the Eureka men's soccer team 8-1 to keep the Blue Jays in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament contention on the Red Devils' Senior Day on Friday.

The weather was cold, wet and windy, but it didn't slow down the Blue Jays. The visitors put up three goals in the first 10 minutes and five in the first half of play at McKinzie Field.

The Red Devils got on the board when senior Diego Cintora (Watseka, Ill./Watseka) converted a penalty kick with a blast to the left side of the net in the 74th minute. It was his third goal of the season and the eighth of his career, putting him eighth in program history in goals.

Cintora also tallied three of his team's seven shots on goal on the day. Freshman Jake Edmondson (Monticello, Ill./Monticello) notched two goals on frame, while freshmen Micah Tyler (Atlanta, Ga./Therrell) and Nathan Macario (Safford, Ariz./Safford) each had one.

Westminster's Andrew Sprengel delivered a hat trick for the Blue Jays. Freddy Nene, Mustekbel Shoune, Kaedyn Royer and Ethan Mort all found the back of the net as well.

In addition to Cintora, it was also the final career match for four-year seniors Austin Marburger (Litchfield, Ill./Litchfield) and Ignacio Guttierez (Madrid, Spain/El Prado) and three-year senior Hunter Cluver (Watseka, Ill./Watseka). All were honored at halftime for their years of contributions to the EC men's soccer program.

Defender-turned-goalkeeper Bryn Callahan (Moline, Ill./Moline) tallied six saves in 90 minutes in the net for the Red Devils.

The Red Devils' season came to an end without any wins, but with plenty of strong performances, lessons learned and memories on the pitch.
