Fontbonne Bests Eureka, 4-0

CLAYTON, Mo. – Fontbonne kept the Eureka men's soccer team off the board on Wednesday evening, besting the Red Devils 4-0 at Centene Stadium.

The Griffins put away three goals in the first half, then added one more in the in the 79th minute.

Fontbonne's Trent Calvert scored off an assist by Anthony LaRocca less than six minutes into the match.

Eighteen minutes later, Tanner Harris made it 2-0 off an assist by Joseph Huster, and Brandon Baumgartner converted a penalty kick in the 43rd minute.

Huster finished the fourth and final goal of the night with a shot into the bottom left corner.

Eureka freshman midfielders Kamiel Sauer (Haarlem, Netherlands/Coornhert Lyceum) and Jake Edmondson (Monticello, Ill./Monticello) each had two shots on goal for the Red Devils and senior center back Austin Marburger had one as well, but Fontbonne goalkeeper Domonic Haggard stopped each one.

Eureka goalkeeper Bryn Callahan (Moline, Ill./Moline) tallied four saves in 90 minutes in the net.

The Red Devils will look to get into the winning column for the first time on Friday when the team hosts Westminster for their final game of the year. When Eureka played the Blue Jays on the road earlier this season, Westminster prevailed by scoring in the 84th minute to claim a 1-0 win.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at McKinzie Field.
