Greenville Pulls Away from Eureka, 7-1

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – After a close first half, Greenville pulled away from the Eureka men's soccer team for a 7-1 victory at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville's Ralph Korte Stadium

The Red Devils went into halftime trailing by two goals. The team came within one early in the second half when Diego Cintora (Watseka, Ill./Watseka) scored on an assist by Kamiel Sauer (Haarlem, Netherlands/Coornhert Lyceum) in the 47th minute of play.

Greenville's Pablo Valverde put away his second goal of the match in the 60th minute to make it a two-goal contest again. Then, the Panthers scored again in the 63rd, 67th, 75th and 78th minutes.

Sauer and Will Wiegand (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) each notched a shot on goal in the loss for the Red Devils.

Eureka will next host Principia at McKinzie Field on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
