EUREKA -- Pedro Santana netted the match-winner in the ninth minute, Josh Martin followed with insurance midway through the first half and visiting Mississippi University for Women added four more tallies in the second half to secure a 6-0 non-league victory over Eureka, Friday afternoon at McKinzie Field.

The decision secured a second victory for the visiting Owls in a series of two matches on back-to-back days in Eureka.

Sanatana collected an errant EC pass near the top of the penalty area before promptly navigating through traffic and tucking a right-footed shot just inside the far post for a 1-0 lead at the 8:07 mark of the opening period. Martin doubled the advantage in the 27th minute after taking a feed from Vini Lopes, finding space and ripping a shot into the right side of the frame from 16 yards out.

MUW maintained the 2-0 lead until halftime. The Red Devils had their best chance of the day just moments into the second half. A gorgeous through-ball from Bawi Sang (Thang Tlang, Myanmar/Roger C. Sullivan) found Casey Frietsch (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.) for a one-time rip from straightaway, but the blast struck the cross bar and bounced away from danger. Lopes made it 3-0 less than 10 minutes later to trigger the Owls' four-goal second half.

Isaac Hughes (Westville, Ill./Westville H.S.) made seven saves in goal for the hosts.

Eureka opens the 14-match St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference slate next Wednesday in a 1 p.m. kickoff in Carlinville, Ill.
