SLIAC Releases Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll
BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released its men's soccer preseason poll for the 2021 spring season on Wednesday.
Eureka was selected to finish ninth overall with eight points in the poll, which is voted on by league coaches.
Iowa Wesleyan is the overwhelming favorite with 67 overall votes and six first-place votes. The Tigers are distantly followed by Spalding, Greenville, Webster with 48, 46 and 44 points, respectively.
Westminster isn't far behind with 40, then Principia (37), Fontbonne (19) and Blackburn (15).
The Red Devils return eight from the 2019 team, including seniors Fabian Saldana (Aurora, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic) and Tyler Goss (Groveland, Ill./Pekin), and juniors Diego Cintora (Watseka, Ill./Watseka), Austin Marburger (Litchfield, Ill./Litchfield) and Ignacio Gutierrez (Madrid, Spain/El Prado).
