James Bowen Named SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka College freshman James Bowen (Homer Glen, Ill./Seneca) has been named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office Monday afternoon. Bowen scored three times and added an assist in two starts in the Eureka midfield last week.

Bowen, netted his first goal as a Red Devil last Wednesday in the 2nd minute in a 2-1 SLIAC victory at Iowa Wesleyan. Over the weekend in Eureka's non-conference bout at Rockford, Bowen helped get the Red Devils on the board with an assist in the 42nd minute and later netted a pair of goals, one in the 46th minute and the game-winner in the 87th. The Red Devils would defeat the Regents, 3-2.

Monday's announcement marks Eureka's first men's soccer SLIAC Player of the Week award this season. Alex Vargas was the most recent Red Devil to claim the award on Oct. 28, 2013.

Bowen and the Red Devils will travel to Manchester Saturday for 3 p.m. non-conference contest.
